Lao Agriculture Competitiveness Project Participated in study tour on Agriculture value chain Development.

From 06 to 13 January 2020 in Vietnam, the Lao Agriculture Competitiveness Project attended a study tours on agricultural value chain development. The Lao delegation was led by Mr. Chanthaneth SIMAHANO, Deputy-Director General of the Planning and Finance Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The Lao participants on this study tour were from the central and provincial levels such as the Provincial Project Committee members, Central-Provincial Coordinators, Technical Officers from the Technical Departments – Provincial Departments from agriculture and forestry and Industrial and commerce sectors and consultants from the National Project Management Office.

The main purpose of the study tour was to exchange lessons learnt on  the implementation of the project, agriculture value chain development, the use of  new technologies, production mechanisms, agriproduct processing, marketing and export to be used for the project implementations in Lao PDR.

During the study tour, the Lao team had discussed and consulted on an implementation of commercialization project on vegetables, fruits and coffee in Lam Dong province, rice and fish farms in Can tho province, and meeting with Maize and Economic Crop Research Center in Hanoi. From the entire learning exchange, Lao delegations are able to obtain lessen learns on post-harvest techniques, production and certification mechanisms, linking between farmers and  market, farm management, policies, public, private and producers participation (PPPP). From the overall learning will be implemented for activities of Lao agriculture competitiveness projects nearly future.
