The kick-off for the 9th implementation support mission of LACP was help on 06 February 2023, at Landmark Hotel. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Phommy Inthichack, Duputy Director General of Department of Planning and Cooperation, with representative from technical department from Ministry of Agriculture and forestry, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Provincial Agriculture and Forestry, Provincial Industry and Commerce, World Bank, SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, International Rice Research Institute and National Project Management Official. The main purpose of this meeting is to review the progress and results of the implementation of the project and follow up on the agreed action plan from the recent mission in June 2022. The mission will visit 05 target provinces and will study the possibility of preparing for a new project (Small Green Agriculture Competitiveness Project) and identify 03 new provinces as: Savannakhet, Saravan and Champasack.
At the same time, in this follow-up mission, there will be a consultation meeting with the departments and institutions around the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Forestry, the Provincial Department of Industry and Trade, agribusiness units and local stakeholders regarding the progress of the implementation of the project and in addition, the team will also have discussions with other development partners.
Along with the implementation support mission, the World Bank team will also discuss with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to agree on the concept design and schedule for the preparation of the new project. For the results of the monitoring and promotion of the project this time, the World Bank team will take it as a basis for priorities in the discussion in the next 6 months and to prepare for the mission to support the implementation of the project that will be held at the end of June 2023.
