Wrap-up meeting for the 4th implementation support mission of the project

On 18th June 2020, Lao Agriculture Competitiveness Project (LACP) organized the wrap-up meeting for the 4th Implementation Support Mission of the project. The half-day meeting was held at 101 room, Department of Planning and Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and forestry and was co-chaired by Mr. Savanh Hanphom, Deputy Director General of Department of Planning and Finance, and Mr. Binh Thang Cao World Bank Task Team Leader. Representatives from technical departments of Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Ministry of Industry and Commerce, representatives from the five provincial Department of Agriculture and Forestry and Department of Industry and Commerce, World Bank team and other project stakeholders attended the meeting. The main purpose of the meeting was to summarize the results of the project implementation support mission and to discuss lessons learned from project implementation in the first six-month of 2020.

Mr. Binh Thang Cao, Task Team Leader from the World Bank presented the following up the project implementation to summary and discuss of the progress, issues, outstanding constraints and proposed options to improve and accelerate implementation in key areas of the project. The meeting also discussed project management aspects, such as building capacity of the target provinces on procurement, finance management, and so on.

the meeting listened to the report by Mr. Binh Thang Cao, Task Team Leader from the World Bank to encourage in the 4th implementation support mission to discuss issues issues related to the activities of the project to review progress, problems and constraints to improve gas the conditions better than previously. In addition, the meeting also discussed project management, including capacity building for the target provinces on various tasks such as: seed production, commercial production, irrigation work, investment plan of farmer group, monitoring and evaluation, environmental and social safeguard, procurement, financial management and more.
